The Paroli System in Theory
The obvious place to start is with the mechanics of the system. Just how, exactly, does the Paroli betting system works when we head to the football markets? If you've studied betting systems in the past, then you may well be aware of many that have crossed over from the online casino games and Paroli is another one of those.
It's been applied for many years at the casinos on options where the bet is close to a 50/50 call. The most obvious of these is roulette where players can back on red or black, odd or even, high or low. Yes, there is the green zero pocket to take into account, but this is very, very close to a 50/50 bet.
In online casinos, the Paroli betting strategy can also be applied to blackjack, craps, and Sic Bo, but what about the football betting markets? The answer to that is quite simple: any bet which is listed at Even Money can be used on a Paroli sequence of bets.
Like many of those other strategies, there is a set of bets to follow, depending on whether there is a winner or a loser. The difference with the Paroli betting strategy is the existence of a cut-off point. With systems such as the Martingale or the Fibonacci, you can go on indefinitely, but with Paroli, you stop and reset after three winning bets.
Paroli and the Football Betting Markets
As we mentioned, we start off by finding a football bet that is listed at Even Money. It could be in the straight result market, Both Teams to Score, Winning Margin or any other option. As long as there are Even Money odds involved, we can jump on it.
So, we've found our bet and, for the purposes of this example, we're going to start with a modest stake of £1. If the bet loses, we simply start the process again by finding another Even Money bet and we stick with that original stake of £1. Repeat the process for any losing bet and remember, the stake doesn't change after a loss.
As soon as we land a win, we then need to double our stake so that £1 becomes £2. If at this point you lose the next bet, you go back to the beginning, find an Even Money price, and start with that £1 stake.
If, however, that £2 bet were to win, the next bet will double to £4. This is the crucial stage of the Paroli system because, no matter what happens, the sequence will end after this third bet. So, you can win, or you can lose but, irrespective of the outcome, the next bet will revert to that starter stake which is £1 in our example.
A Closer Look at the Calculations
Many bettors who have employed the Paroli betting strategy like to follow a sequence of three bets and then start again. The choice is yours in this respect: You can keep going until you find a winning set of three bets or, you can group them into threes and see what returns you get.
For the sake of this round-up, we're going to use different examples of three-bet runs. We'll start with the best possible result of three straight wins, and we'll see what the Paroli betting strategy is capable of delivering.
- Three Straight wins
1.Bet £1 at Even Money: Bet wins = £1 Profit plus £1 returned stake
2.Bet £2 at Even Money: Bet wins = £2 Profit plus £2 returned stake
3.Bet £4 at Even Money: Bet wins = £4 Profit plus £4 returned stakeThis is the best possible set of returns under the Paroli betting strategy, and it has left us with a return of £7 and our stakes have also been returned. Total profit, therefore, is £7. Remember, the sequence is now complete, and if we want to keep going with Paroli, we simply switch back to that opening stake of £1.
- Two wins and a loose
1.Bet £1 at Even Money: Bet wins = £1 Profit plus £1 returned stake
2.Bet £2 at Even Money: Bet wins = £2 Profit plus £2 returned stake
3.Bet £4 at Even Money Bet Loses: No returns and stake forfeitedIn this example, our total outlay has been £7. We have made £3 in profits and have received £3 stakes back, so we have made a small loss of £1.
- A loose and two wins
1.Bet £1 at Even Money: Bet Loses: No returns and stake forfeited
2.Bet £1 at Even Money: Bet wins = £1 Profit plus £1 returned stake
3.Bet £2 at Even Money: Bet wins = £2 Profit plus £2 returned stakeIn this example we are back in profit: We've staked a total of £4, and we've made £3 back, but £3.00 of our stake money has also been returned. Therefore, we have secured an overall profit of £2.
Are There Some Good Examples of the System in Action?
As we can see from the above examples, results have been mixed, and while the Paroli betting strategy can be profitable at times, it isn't foolproof. However, two of the above examples have given us a profit while the other has resulted in a small loss. That's another thing that the system can do - it tends to mitigate those losses so that they are relatively low. And, we have seen, if we'd used Paroli three times using all of those above scenarios, we are in credit overall.
So, we've used some theoretical examples, but can we find some real-life options from current markets? Absolutely yes: we compiled this review of the Paroli betting strategy just as the big football game in the English Premier League of Everton v Manchester United was about to happen. The game, like all big matches, had 100 markets to choose from.

Did any of those markets contain an Even Money price? It took us less than a minute to find that a number of bookmakers had listed Even Money odds on Both Teams Not to Score, so that's a great place to start. Even Money options were also available for those backing Over 2.5 goals while the same price was available for certain bets in the Asian Handicap markets.
In less than three minutes, we had found three possible bets and that's a good sample size moving forward. Across a busy football weekend, there's clearly going to be more matches and many more Even Money bets and it won't take long to start your Paroli.
Working through this review, it's become clear that this could become a useful betting system moving forward. Like all methods, there are no guarantees, but the Paroli can deliver good betting opportunities, and unless you have a long streak of losing bets, any losses should be small ones. As such, we suggest that you look to try it out with some small stakes and see if Paroli can work for you.
