Walking You through Some Goliath Bet Tips
As mentioned above, eight selections are needed in order to form a Goliath. From those selections, we form a monumental set of 247 individual bets, and these can be broken down as follows: 28 Doubles, 56 Trebles, 70 Four Folds, 56 Five Folds, 28 Six Folds, 8 Seven Folds, 1 Eight Fold Accumulator.
As shown by this Goliath Bet example, we need at least two of our selections to win in order for any return to be triggered. A single success is not enough for the sportsbook in question to put any money back into our account.
However, just one double is unlikely to give us a profit and, depending on prices, we need to aim at landing some of the higher multiples if we are to have a bigger account balance once all eight picks have been settled.
As a point to note at this stage, some sportsbooks and punters will use the phrase Super Goliath Bet. This is essentially the same as a standard Goliath: there are no extra selections and no more bets to add so; when anyone asks how many bets in a Super Goliath, there are 247 bets from eight selections.

How to Make a Goliath Bet
Now we know what a Goliath consists of, it’s time to put that knowledge into practice. As with any systems, you can take a Goliath Bet example and watch it play out without actually staking any money. Just pick eight selections and see how they play out before deciding if this big bet is for you.
Moving forward, the strategy behind a Goliath is the same for any sports betting option. It’s always advisable to carry out extensive research into form and any head-to-head statistics for each of your selections.
Having done that, it’s time to stake: For the purposes of this example, we’re going to use a football Goliath Bet involving eight separate teams, all to win. Let’s say that we are going to back: Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton, Arsenal, Wolves, West Ham, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich.
As you can see, the picks don’t have to be from the same league. In fact, you can mix different sports in your Goliath, but we’ve looked to keep it simple. Pick those teams and select each of them to win. In turn, all eight selections will be added to your virtual bet slip.
Now it’s time to check that slip in greater detail. Remember that this will have a different look depending on which sportsbook you are using, but all slips will follow a certain formula. Your eight selections from your football Goliath are likely to appear as eight single bets. Obviously, we want to change that and there should be a separate tab where customers can switch to multiples and system bets.
Click on the optional tab and scroll down to the point where you can see a Goliath Bet. Hit this and you will be asked to input your chosen stake. Choose a bet level that you are comfortable with, and you will now have the option to confirm this bet via a prominent button.
Before that confirmation, the sportsbook in question should provide a Goliath Bet breakdown which shows those eight selections and the 247 bets. In terms of a Goliath Betting calculator, the potential profits from 247 winning bets will also be underlined.
Many football betting sites also provide a separate Goliath Bet calculator, which goes into more detail. This will show potential returns if some, but not all of those selections, go on to win. When you’re happy, just hit that confirm button and your bet is placed with the respective Goliath Betting site.
Could a Goliath Bet Be Used within a Formula?
Experienced bettors who implement a recognised system would not be looking to use a Goliath or a Super Goliath Bet in a formula. Systems such as Paroli, Fibonacci or Martingale work best when things are kept as simple as possible. This would generally mean finding a single bet at Even Money or, possibly, 2/1.
With eight selections involved, it’s extremely unlikely that anyone will look at their bet calculator Goliath and find that the odds can be rounded up exactly to Even Money or 2/1. Conceivably, it’s not impossible for this to happen, but it would be a rare occurrence and one that is unlikely to be repeated week on week.
Here Are Some Other Examples
In the unlikely event that your Goliath Bet breakdown shows odds of Even Money, there is the potential for a formula to be used. Therefore, we can provide an example using the Paroli System. Under this strategy, stakes are doubled in the event of a win and, if a loss comes along, we will go back to our original unit stake.
Here, we will start at £1.00 with all bets coming in at Even Money:
Example One
- Bet £1.00 at Even Money: wins = £1.00 Profit plus £1.00 returned stake
- Bet £2.00 at Even Money: wins = £2.00 Profit plus £2.00 returned stake
- Bet £4.00 at Even Money: wins = £4.00 Profit plus £4.00 returned stake
Our total profit under this example is £7.00, so the system has worked.
Example Two
- Bet £1.00 at Even Money: wins = £1.00 profit plus £1.00 returned stake
- Bet £2.00 at Even Money: wins = £2.00 profit plus £2.00 returned stake
- Bet £4.00 at Even Money: loses: No Returns and stake forfeited
- Bet £1.00 at Even Money: loses: No Returns and stake forfeited
- Bet £1.00 at Even Money: wins = £1.00 profit plus £1.00 returned stake
- Bet £2.00 at Even Money: wins = £2.00 profit plus £2.00 returned stake
In this example, we have staked a total of £11.00. Our profits are £6.00, and we have also claimed back total stakes of £6.00. Therefore, we have made a small profit of £1.00.
These are two winning examples but do keep in mind that Paroli isn’t foolproof, and a run of losing bets could wipe out your bankroll.
In summary, a system such as Paroli could conceivably work with a Goliath Bet, but we wouldn’t recommend pursuing it. It’s unlikely that we would get a Goliath coming in at Even Money, and certainly, it’s virtually impossible to find those odds week after week.
Goliath Betting is best used in isolation for those who like an advanced and expansive system bet.
