This was always going to be a big match, but now that Ten Hag has finally been given his marching orders, there is an added spice to the game as the Man U players will be eager to show what they are all about and to prove a point to the Man Utd hierarchy.
The performance against West Ham at the weekend was poor, with Gary Neville summing it up perfectly when he said that any half-decent side could beat Man Utd at the moment.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy has been appointed as the caretaker manager, so all eyes will be on him to see if he can stop the rot.
As for Chelsea, they put in a great performance against Newcastle on Sunday, with all of the talk centred around the wonder pass from the hugely impressive Cole Palmer, which set up Chelsea’s opening goal.
He has to be regarded as one of the best players in the Premiership at the moment, oozing in confidence and controlling every game as the midfield maestro.
Odds and Predictions
If Ten Hag was still in charge, we would have no hesitation in recommending a win for Chelsea. Still, as already mentioned, the Man United players will feel that they have something to prove, so that definitely gives us something to think about.
The odds priced by football betting sites UK are pretty even: Man United are priced up at 2.60, the odds for Chelsea are 2.55, and the price for the draw is 3.50.
After giving it some serious thought, the first one of our predictions is for the match to end in a draw and with a scoreline of 2 – 2.
The odds for this result is 11.0 so we would recommend a small wager at this price as well as a bet on the draw at 3.5.
For the last one of our tips, we are going for a dabble in the ‘To Score at Any Time’ market’ and Nicolas Jackson.
While Cole Palmer is quite rightly receiving lots of praise at the moment, Nicolas Jackson has been scoring goals for fun so we feel that this is a good bet.
Comparison and Statistics
Manchester United and Chelsea have faced each other H2H 195 times in their history.
Manchester United have won 83 of those matches, Chelsea 56 and 56 matches ending in a draw.
The last five head-to-head matches have been pretty evenly matched, with Man United winning 2, Chelsea 1 and the other 2 ending in a draw.

Expected Line Ups
Manchester United have still got a few long-term injuries, most notably Luke Shaw but it looks like Chelsea are at full strength.
A few of these Man Utd players will feel like they have something to prove and with that in mind, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Marcus Rashford play a blinder.
It’s good to see Reece James back for Chelsea and we thought he looked like he was back to his old self against Newcastle.
Manchester United (4-2-3-1): Andre Onana; Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot; Christian Eriksen, Casemiro; Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford; Rasmus Hojlund.
Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Robert Sanchez; Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto; Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia; Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke; Nicolas Jackson.
How Will the Season Pan Out
We said earlier on in the season that the success of Man Utd’s season will depend on how long Ten Hag stays in charge. Now he has gone and depending on who the new manager will be, we can see them finishing in the top six.
As for Chelsea, we believe it will be between them at Aston Villa, battling it out for a place in the top four at the end of the season.
