This will be an interesting encounter and a good benchmark to see how much Man Utd have progressed under Ruben Amorim. Although Newcastle have not had the best start to the season, they are still a solid side with the potential to climb up the Premier League table.

Amorim has definitely started, as he means to go on and is not afraid to drop some of the big names at Old Trafford, most notably Marcus Rashford, who has not even made the bench in recent matches.

If the UK football rumour mill is to be believed, this has nothing to do with Rashford’s poor form on the pitch, but whatever the reason, the rest of the Man United players will know that if they do not share the manager’s ambitions for the club, they won’t be getting much game time.

Newcastle has been playing well over the past few games. Isak, in particular, has been on fire, so they will be hoping to get the three points in preparation for a good start to the new year’s fixtures.

Odds and Predictions

Man Utd have been priced up as the slight favourites at odds of 2.20; Newcastle are available at 2.80, whilst the odds for the draw are 3.75.

It is always a little difficult to analyse matches played over the Christmas period due to injuries, for example, but after careful consideration, we believe we have come up with some good predictions for this match.

Taking everything into account, a draw looks the most likely outcome and in particular, a scoreline of 1 – 1.

Odds of around 8.0 is a good value, in our opinion, and that is where our money will be going in this match. Top football betting sites are offering competitive odds for this game, so be sure to explore your options.

For anyone looking for further tips, a small wager on Alexander Isak in the ‘First Scorer’ market could be a good play at odds of around 5.0.

Expected Line Ups

We have left Rashford out of the expected line up, whether he will be able to redeem himself before the match is anyone’s guess but one player who has impressed us greatly is Amad Diallo.

His goal against Man City on December 15th was outstanding and he was a constant threat to the City defence.

We have already mentioned Isak for Newcastle, but for us, he is proving himself to be one of the best strikers in the Premiership.

Manchester United (3-4-3): Onana; Lindelöf, Martinez, Yoro; Dalot, Casemiro, Fernandes, Garnacho; Antony, Højlund, Diallo.

Newcastle United (4-3-3): Pope; Krafth, Schär, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimarães, Joelinton; Almirón, Isak, Gordon.

How Will the Season Pan Out

Both teams are mid-table but will be hoping for a top-six finish this season.

It is definitely possible. Man Utd, in particular, will have big plans for the January transfer window, but for now, the goal will be to keep grinding out the wins and winning games like this one.
