What a game we have in store for the first Sunday after the international break and from a neutral viewpoint, it’s good to see Chelsea playing exciting football again after a couple of years in the doldrums.
It is ironic when you take into account that Chelsea has spent over £1 billion in transfer fees since 2022, yet it is the £40 million they paid for Cole Palmer which must be regarded as the deal of the decade.
What was Pep Guardiola thinking, letting Palmer leave Man City? One thing is for sure though, he must be regretting it now.
As for Liverpool, Arne Slot has made light work of a job that comes with immense pressure, stepping into the shoes of the legend, Jürgen Klopp, and the very fact that Liverpool are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier table shows that his players have adapted well to the Dutchman’s style of play.
Odds and Predictions
There is little doubt that this is going to be a highly entertaining game and we think that the top football betting sites have got it just about right with their odds for the game.
Liverpool are favourites at 1.70, the odds on Chelsea are 4.50 and the draw is priced at 4.0.
The advantage Liverpool has when playing in front of the Klop should not be underestimated so the first one of our predictions is a Liverpool win with a correct score of 3 – 1.
For the last one of our tips, we are also going to recommend a bet in the ‘Total Goals’ market. ‘Over 3.5’ looks like a good bet to us, bearing in mind that these are two attacking teams, so goals are definitely predicted.

Expected Line Ups
Just one look at the expected line ups for this match, and you can see that it is going to be an absolute cracker.
Cole, Jackson and Madueke pose an enormous threat going forward, but the Liverpool defence has looked calm and assured in the matches we have watched this season.
The Liverpool attacking options that include Salah and Jota make us believe that they will prove too much for Chelsea, but this will be a game of end-to-end football which is excellent news for everyone who is tuned in to Sky Sports on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): C. Kelleher; K. Tsimikas, I. Konate, V. van Dijk, T. Alexander-Arnold; R. Gravenberch, A. Mac Allister; Luis Diaz, D. Szoboszlai, M. Salah; Diogo Jota.
Chelsea (4-2-3-1): R. Sanchez; Renato Veiga, Levi Colwill, T. Adarabioyo, Malo Gusto; M. Caicedo, E. Fernandez; Jadon Sancho, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke; N. Jackson.
How Will the Season Pan Out
We must admit we had our concerns about Chelsea at the beginning of the season. How could so many expensive signings be expected to sit on the sidelines? What would that do for the morale of the team.
It does look like we underestimated the managerial skills of Enzo Maresca, though because this Chelsea team is looking very good indeed.
We can see them achieving a top-four position at least and over the course of the season, the strength that they have in depth could prove to be a deciding factor.
Liverpool has been impressive; any worries about how the team would perform after Jürgen Klopp has been well and truly banished, and we would not be surprised if they end up challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title 2024/25.
