The odds suggest that this is an evenly matched contest, but if you take a closer look at the form of the two teams leading up to Euro ‘24, it will soon become apparent that Switzerland was pretty poor (W4 D5 L1) and to make matters worse, the qualifying group wasn’t exactly oozing in class either.
Hungary, however, were unbeaten in their qualifying group, including an impressive win away against Serbia. Under the guidance of their Italian manager, Marco Rossi, there will no doubt be quiet confidence in the Hungary camp.
Odds and Predictions
We can actually see this match being a cagey head-to-head affair, both teams love to attack and have a very capable defensive unit, so as far as tips go, a 1 – 1 draw looks to be the most likely outcome.
Odds of 3.3 are available on this outcome, which seems pretty fair to us.
For those who are looking for predictions in the game at higher odds, we wouldn’t discourage you from having a nibble at the 6.0 available on the 1-1 draw.

Expected Line Ups
Both teams are expected to have a mixture of youth and experience and in the case of the Swiss goalkeeper, Yann Sommer, he will be hoping that he can put his nightmare performances in the qualifying rounds behind him.
Hungary (3-4-2-1): Péter Gulácsi; Ádám Lang, Willi Orban, Attila Szalai; Loïc Négo, Ádám Nagy, Callum Styles, Milos Kerkez; Roland Sallai, Dominik Szoboszlai; Ádám Szalai.
Switzerland (4-3-3): Yann Sommer; Silvan Widmer, Manuel Akanji, Nico Elvedi, Ricardo Rodríguez; Granit Xhaka, Remo Freuler, Denis Zakaria; Xherdan Shaqiri, Noah Okafor, Renato Steffen.
How Far Will These Teams Progress in the Tournament?
Despite their below-par performances in the qualifying round, we feel that Switzerland has far more to offer and may turn out to be one of the surprise packages in the tournament.
The manager, Murat Yakin, seems to have assembled a very strong side, with several of the poor performances in the qualifying rounds being blamed on individual errors, namely the goalkeeper Yann Sommer!
If he can perform to his capabilities, we would expect Switzerland to reach the Quarter Finals of the tournament.
Hungary are more difficult to predict, there is no doubt that they are an excellent team, but as we believe Germany and Switzerland will qualify from this group, we are reluctantly going to have to predict that Hungary will exit the competition in the group stages, with only Scotland finishing below them in Group A.
